| | Take a 3D tour to learn the types of fire extinguishers you need to protect your home. | Multipurpose Protection for Your Family and Home This fire extinguisher contains a multipurpose agent that fights Class A, Class B, and Class C fires. Class A fires involve common combustibles, such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber, trash, and plastics. Class B fires involve flammable liquids, solvents, oil, gasoline, paints, lacquers, and other oil-based products. Class C fires involve energized electrical equipment, such as wiring, controls, motors, machinery, and appliances.Recommended by Fire Experts for Proven Protection The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends at least one primary protection fire extinguisher for each level of the home. A primary protection fire extinguisher should have a fairly large capacity and must be UL Rated 2-A:10-B:C or higher. In addition to your primary protection, you should also have UL rated supplementary protection fire extinguishers for additional protection or specific hazards. You should not have to travel more than 40 feet to reach an extinguisher. After ensuring you have enough primary protection fire extinguishers, place 1-A:10-B:C rated multipurpose fire extinguishers as needed for supplementary protection in bedrooms and living areas. This supplementary protection fire extinguisher meets the recommendations and needs of:
- The National Fire Protection Association: the NFPA 10 Standard for Fire Extinguishers
- Underwriters Laboratories (UL): the independent testing lab for fire safety products
- Professionals: for more than 90 years, industry leaders, the military, airlines, and firefighters have relied on Kidde fire extinguishers
The Right Solution for an Emergency Situation In an emergency situation, you need a proven technology: a UL-rated fire extinguisher with a handle, a visible pressure gauge, and enough size and capacity to put out a common fire. These features are what makes a fire extinguisher the tool of choice for true fire suppression. Many aerosol can fire products may not be as reliable for fire protection, because they have a short shelf life (only three years in many cases), they do not provide a gauge to verify readiness, and they aren't UL rated. If you are able to react to a small fire when it starts, chances are good that you can stop the fire with the right type of fire extinguisher. Always make sure your extinguisher is pressurized and close at hand for emergency use.Built to Last and Easy to Use This Kidde Fire Extinguisher is durable and easy to use. The fire extinguisher is warranted for six years, and its metal pressure gauge helps ensure that the fire extinguisher is charged and ready for use. This extinguisher is durable and corrosion resistant, featuring a rust- and impact-resistant nylon handle and a light-but -durable aluminum cylinder. The sure-grip handle and operating lever make the extinguisher less likely to slip from wet or oily hands and easier to operate for people with arthritis or weakness of the fingers. A large bilingual nameplate on the extinguisher provides easy-to-read instructions for use during a fire. About Kidde: A UTC Fire & Security Brand Renowned for global leadership in fire detection and suppression, Kidde provides solutions ranging from portable fire extinguishers to advanced industrial controls, such as flame detection and explosion suppression systems. Kidde is a UTC Fire & Security brand, with a history that's rich with innovations, from the patent of the Chubb Detector Lock in 1818 to the development of the world's first wireless networked smoke detectors in 2004. What's in the Box Kidde FA110 Multipurpose fire extinguisher with UL approved wall hanger, six-year limited warranty, and bilingual user's manual.

seems like a GOOD Value March 9, 2010 John Bean (San Diego, CA) For those living in the middle 20th century, Modern plastics far surpass other materials in the 21st century. The tank is aluminum for one thing, which does not corrode like steel. The handle and valve are made of nylon a very strong and appropriate material which also does not corrode. As far as it being not refillable, I think if it saves your house from not burning down for around $25, it is a great bargain. If it saves everything I own one time I would gladly buy another one. It is best to have at least 2 of these placed where you can get to them at all times. These are a invaluable bargain.
Hope I don't need it! March 6, 2010 Mel E. Elliott (Morton, MS) It seems to be a good Fire Extingusher. I believe though if I bought another one, it would be a "refillable one". Seems like such a waste to use it once and then discard it.
Review of Fire Extinguisher March 3, 2010 Calvin A. May (Folsom, CA United States) As far as I know this is a great item. Guess we would not be sure until we had to use it.
It came through in great condition and is in the kitchen, just in case.
Thanks
Looks to be solidly built. January 19, 2010 Patrick K. Miller (Wall Township, NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a bigger extinguisher that I was expecting, but I am not complaining, and I need to find a place to store it. I know that if a problem comes up I will be glad that I have it. I guess I was just expecting a smaller extinguisher... now I need to find a place to store this that's in easy reach and not sticking out like a sore thumb.
I gave this a four star rating as I really don't know how well this will work (and hope to never know). The packaging was adequate, shipping was fast, the extinguisher arrived fully charged, has a mounting plate and looks like I could put out a decent size fire if caught early enough.
If Amazon Customer Service Weren't so Great, It'd be Less than 1 Star December 31, 2009 Illinois Erudite (Central Illinois) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Simply put, this thing is junk made from cheap plastic parts. The immediate response to this comment will definitely be "WELL U KNEW IT WUZ CHEEPR THEN OTHUR XTINGUESHERS SO U SHULDA KNOWN IT WUZ GONNA BE PLASTICK LOL!!!!!!!!!11111" from people who read this review, but there is no excuse, no matter what the price, for using very breakable cheap plastic parts in a product that is so crucial to home safety. It is simply inexcusable. It's actually almost a good thing that this thing completely broke during shipping, because if it had been in tact and then broke in my kitchen pantry, I don't even want to think about the result if I were to find out it broke when I needed to use it.
While these can't be returned by mail to the seller because they contain "hazardous materials" that cannot be shipped through the mail, Amazon still refunded me the full amount after I notified them that it came broken. Lesson learned, I suppose. Don't buy something this important sight unseen.
