Amazon.com Product Description Introducing the revolutionary BRK 9120 series smoke alarms which have been redesigned from the ground up. They install faster, perform better, and are even smarter than before. All of these improvements help reduce nuisance alarms and save you time and money. BRK Electronics smoke alarms are designed to be easy to install, easy to maintain, and quality-engineered for years of virtually maintenance-free service. The 9120B AC-powered smoke alarm with battery backup includes these features: - Ionization sensor which helps detect fast flaming fires that consume combustible materials rapidly.
- 120-volt AC inter-connectable (with maximum 18 compatible devices). The alarm can be interconnected with up to 12 other compatible smoke alarms and six compatible devices like bells, horns, repeaters and door closers. If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. Power indicators show which unit in the series initiated the alarm.
- Latching alarm indicator which automatically identifies which unit initiated the alarm.
- Smart technology to reduce nuisance alarms.
- 9-volt battery backup for peace of mind during power malfunction.
- Single test/silence button which both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality.
- Perfect mount system including a gasketless base for easy installation and new mounting bracket that keeps the alarm secure over a wide rotation range to allow for perfect alignment.
- Mounting bracket lock for tamper resistance.
- Dust cover to keep unit clean during construction.
- 10-year limited warranty.
All BRK Electronics smoke alarms meet UL 217 standard and are listed with the California State Fire Marshal. They use the new UL mandated repeating 85-decibel alarm horn pattern. 10-year limited warranty. This unit is approved for sale in Oregon after new revisions on law HB2586.--Bree NorlanderWhat's in the Box One smoke alarm, one 9-volt battery, and user's manual

BRK = JUNK September 4, 2010 Anon This product gets one star from me only because I could not give it a 0.
I am sure that the builder installed these in my home because they were the cheapest thing around. They have been awful. After a month in the house, we had to completely disconnect one smoke detector because it would not stop chirping after repeated battery changes, cleaning, etc.
The others chirp at random, even after having batteries changed.
Sometimes all of the alarms go off, for no apparent reason at all.
You can hardly open the compartment where the battery is housed and the battery does not go in easily.
Terrible. I can't say enough bad things about this company. I am sorely disappointed and will never buy from this company again...period.
Biggest Headache in our New House September 2, 2010 jednick (WI United States) These were installed in our new home as part of a monitored system. In four years, two have gone into alarm mode without reason. Fortunately, we were home both times and could abort the alarms before the fire department was dispatched. After researching, I'm going to swap them out for Kidde detectors.
BRK 9120B smoke detector August 31, 2010 Brian Owens Easy to install batteries are included. Test button is easy to access. All hardware is included for installation. Good retrofit for existing BRK system.
BRK Brands 9120B Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery August 30, 2010 Vlad Mayn (USA) Bought it as replacement for a not working one. So far it works as designed.
These are Junk August 27, 2010 Explorer777 These detectors should be recalled, I believe the majority of them are defective. I think this stems from the way the back up battery goes in. You place the battery in a swing out type little plastic door, that when closed, pushes the battery terminals in place. I don't believe this gives a good contact and is what is causing all of the reviewers here to have a similar experience. A chirping sound that usually wakes you up around 3 AM. I just replaced the battery on one of mine 2 days ago, and it is now chirping again. I believe vibrations in the house cause the contacts to seperate. Very very poor design. I'm replacing all of these and wouldn't take another set even if they were free as an untold number of good batteries have been thrown away thinking they were the problem.
