the alarms are poorly made and did not work i thought it may have been a faulty set bought in another store still did not work. I dont recommend these

I bought these for our new house, they have a low profile which I like and thus far we haven't had any nuisance alarms. The install was a breeze.

Not sure if this is a reflection of the product/manufacturer or Amazon's storage policy, but I received this 3 pack of smoke detectors today 23 Feb 2010 and I checked the manufactured date...23 Feb 2008. They are 2 years old on the day I received them. The instructions clearly state these products have a life of 10 years from date of manufacture. So, I am already 20% into that. I would expect 6 or 9 months, but 2 years? That blows. On some products, I would not worry too much about a ten year life, but this is something the life of my family could depend on.
Not impressed - I will be contacting Amazon for their thoughts...maybe I am being unreasonable.
Be warned, and check your date of manufacture when you receive this three pack.

Somehow I was fooled (shame on me!) about the picture and didn't read the description with care. This item cannot be used with existing smoke detectors connected to 120V and does not work interconnected with the others in the house. It is suitable for a garrage, or other remote locations, like a shack.
A waste of money, if you ask me.
If anyone wants to buy it from me, let me know. They are working but not useful for me.

Kidde cannot make it easier to install. I liked that a 9V battery was included with the unit. The small size is nice, however, if you previously had an older and wider unit, then be prepared to plug a screw hole and do some touch up painting on the wall or ceiling. Beyond that, I just hope my units work when needed.
