Amazon.com Product Description Introducing the revolutionary BRK 9120 series smoke alarms which have been redesigned from the ground up. They install faster, perform better, and are even smarter than before. All of these improvements help reduce nuisance alarms and save you time and money. BRK Electronics smoke alarms are designed to be easy to install, easy to maintain, and quality-engineered for years of virtually maintenance-free service. The AC-powered BRK Hardwire Smoke Alarm includes these features: - Ionization sensor which helps detect fast flaming fires that consume combustible materials rapidly.
- 120-volt AC inter-connectable with up to 12 smoke alarms and six of a combination of UL listed BRK heat alarms and RM3 relays (maximum 18 devices). Smoke and CO alarms must be interconnected separately per NFPA 72 and UL 217.
- Latching alarm indicator which automatically identifies which unit initiated the alarm.
- Smart technology to reduce nuisance alarms.
- Single test/silence button which both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality.
- Perfect mount system including a gasketless base for easy installation and new mounting bracket that keeps the alarm secure over a wide rotation range to allow for perfect alignment.
- Mounting bracket lock for tamper resistance.
- Dust cover to keep unit clean during construction.
- 10-year limited warranty.
All BRK Electronics smoke alarms meet UL 217 standard and are listed with the California State Fire Marshal. They use the new UL mandated repeating 85-decibel alarm horn pattern. 10-year limited warranty. This unit is approved for sale in Oregon after new revisions on law HB2586.--Bree NorlanderWhat's in the Box One smoke alarm and user's manual

No Worries July 16, 2010 Jon G Warren Seller was easy to deal with and shipped as promised. I purchased 2 Smoke Alarms and had them installed in less than 30 Minutes. Wiring was easy and they fit in the same location as my existing smoke alarms.
Simple to install needs no battery. June 28, 2010 J. Teasley (Spring Lake, New Jersey) My house came wired with about 12 of these with the battery back-up. Since the 9 volt battery is supposed to power the entire system when electricity is lost they must be replaced fairly frequently. They test at about 8.25 volts when required to be replaced. I have purchased a couple of these non-battery units to replace the ones in the cathedral ceiling that requires a ladder to replace and will invariably start chirping at 2am on a cold winters morning. I have also replace the one in our unheated attic which suffers the same fate.
As long as I can get to the unit I'll stick with the battery back-ups but for those hard to reach places these electric models as a better choice.
Wonderful Product.. April 11, 2010 Joyce Skarzynski (Western Massachusetts) This was a great product easy to install. With the adaptor in the kit we were able to install into our 30+ year old system within minutes...great product..replaced all in our home..
False Alarms February 7, 2010 Jeffrey Rumsey (Minneapolis, MN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These BRK smoke alarms have issued alarms twice now, which lasted several hours each and resulted in lost work time. Initially, two of these would beep every minute and nothing I tried would stop it, so I had them replaced, and then these seemed to be OK, but almost every night we would hear a 1 second alarm. Then 2 weeks later, the alarms went off steady and nothing we tried would silence or reset them. We even had the gas company come out to check the gas applicances for CO2, since 2 of the units also had the CO2 detectors built in, but everything checked out fine, so I just started unplugging the units until the alarms stopped. A few days later, the remaining 3 alarms that I still had connected started another false alarm and eventually stopped. I don't have time to put up with issues like this, and it can result in not even believing your smoke alarms, when it may be a real fire! I only purchased these because they were plug compatible with the First Alert, but I will have to rewire the plug and purchase a better quality brand.
Not quite "Plug and Play" December 28, 2009 Richard C. Lowry The replacement seems to be operating just fine. The problem though, is that you can not simply put the new unit into the old units slot. I replaced all of my smoke detectors. Some required some hardware modification and others some wiring. The good news is that all of the necessary parts are there but the installation may not be as simple as you would like.
I was happy to find the product on Amazon as all of the local sources either didn't carry the product or were out of stock. The price is very fair.
